Our Teacher
Jake came to yoga in 2003 when he attended an Ashtanga class in Cheshire with Granville Cousins. The physicallity of the Ashtanga style suited him and it was an excellent addition for his martial arts training of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and sub mission wrestling.
He continued to practice with Granville until 2006 when he relocated.
Between 2006 and 2016 Jake practiced Ashtanga intermittently along side other forms of physical training and exercise before commiting to regular weekly asana practice, and then over the last few years, a daily Ashtanga practice.
Jake has spent most of his adult life working in the fitness industry working in a number of roles but focusing mostly on personal training and group fitness sesions in the UK and Europe.
Jake completed his Yoga teacher training in Inida, in 2019 and met his present yoga teacher Joey MIles in the same year.
Joeys skilful mixture of teaching the dynamic Ashtanga sequences mixed with alignment of the Iyengar method has had a huge impact on how Jake now approaches asana practice.
Other than yoga Jake practices Zen Buddhism, and enjoys outdoor pursuits, strength training, gardening and cooking.
